First Impression: Habring2 Felix

Habring2 Felix

Just recently, we published a piece announcing Habring2’s new, in-house designed movement. Given that, we hesitated in doing a First Impression on the Felix, the first watch to feature the A11 movement. However, after seeing the Felix, we quickly changed our tune.

To be frank, it’s a stunner. Doubtless, it’s the best-looking Habring2 to date. Prior to the A11, Habring2 relied on the ETA 7750, and therefore wound up with mostly thick watches that had a case diameter of 42mm. This is no longer the case (ahem). Sitting at 38.5mm in diameter and 7mm thick, the Felix is the perfect size for a borderline dress watch. The white dial, almost a powder-coated finish, is contrasted with minimalist black hands, offering a classy-yet-Spartan appearance.

Our understanding is the Felix will be fairly customizable, from display or closed casebacks, slightly varied dials, and options like a date function, removal of the small seconds subdial, and jumping seconds. Although we haven’t been able to get our hands on it, word is the finishing is that of much more expensive watches. Oh yeah, about that price. The Felix will ring in just under $6,000 (with 20% VAT). For a very small independent watchmaker, you’re getting a lot of bang-for-your-buck here.

The best part about the A11 is that it’s just a starting point. Habring2 will be using it as a base movement, only to build off of with future releases. We fully expect a Doppel module fitted to it in the near future, and then who knows what else. It’s all very exciting news for the dynamic duo of Maria and Richard Habring, as well as us watch nerds. We can’t wait to see what comes out of Austria next.
